I'm ready for this week to be over. Heather has been working a ton this week and I've hardly seen her at all. I was hoping to go to the movies with her this Friday and see "Couples Getaway" but I've learned that we are both working the Fun Run at Luke's & Syd's school. I know this week has been draining on her, but she'll feel better when she gets the check for this weeks work.

But until then I'll be waiting for her to have a day off so we can sit and drink coffee in the morning, or go to Panera for a cinnamon crunch bagel, or hit up a matinee movie while the kids are in school.

Juggling

Do you find yourself driving yourself crazy sometimes? I have become such this huge multi-tasker that I drive myself crazy. Everywhere I go I'm thinking while I'm here what should I do so that it will be ready for when I come back or what should I grab that I can drop off while I'm going in that direction. Sometimes I'll stand in the middle of a room spinning around trying to figure out what I should start first so that it will be done when I'm finished with something else.
I do this mostly at work. This morning I found my multi-tasking senses were really tingling. I've been assigned to this new project at work where I have to re-ghost PC to be put out in the field, In lame-mans terms I have to let this program run which guts the PC and put a new profile on it.
So this morning around 6am I: started 6 PC's to be ghosted, sorted the print for the night, started coffee, cycled my Mainframe scheduler, ran 3 Mainframe jobs, shrink-wrapped all the print, broke down and took the PC boxes to the dumpster, printed my labels, poured myself a cup of coffee, sorted my tapes from the night, and wrote this blog all in an hour and a half.
Yes I find myself juggling so much sometimes that I go insane, there are times when I won't let myself go to the bathroom because I'm not ready to go in that direction.

$15 Fireworks

Today is July 16th, and this is really late, but after talking to a friend at church this should make a good blog story. Back on July 4th, our nations Independence Day, I was stuck at work as a matter of fact I had to work the 3rd and then a double on the 4th. So needless to say I saw no fireworks whatsoever. Which really didn't make a difference to me.
Now every year we go over to my parents house, who live on a lake, the surrounding houses on the lake have a huge ta-do about fireworks and the 4th of July. This year was no exception, the people that run the show put together this huge floating barge, and shoot the fireworks from the middle of the lake. Now if you've never seen fireworks over a lake then you're missing 50% of the actual show. The water amplifies the sound and then reflects the fireworks. So it's really something to see, but as I said before I was at work, so there was no amplification or reflection.

I think if I remember right the 4th was on a Saturday, by Monday I was back to normal as far as lack of sleep, for those of you that know me I pretty much am always suffering from lack of sleep, but for the stories sake I was doing ok. So I wake up Monday evening come out of the bedroom to see everybody relaxing ion the living room. Sydney my baby girls jumps up and runs to hug me, then tells me that she saved some of the fireworks that Mom had bought so that I could see them. Now granted these weren't the $100 fireworks that shoot 100's of feet in the air then make huge shapes in the sky, nor were they thunderous sound spliting fireworks, they were the $15 dollar pack of firewoks that you buy at Walmart. But here's the good part of the story, yeah I know you had to sit through that long led up. Watching Sydney watch me as the boys set off those $15 dollar fireworks, then watching the amazement in their eyes, well I think this may have been one of my favorite 4th of July's so far.

Ok so I've upgraded, my ride. The last 10 years I've been driving this Blue/Purple Nissan Frontier. Which I actually liked, it was very basic; no power anything, it was even manual transmission. But I still liked it, I remember when I drove one of the Prisk brothers somewhere, at the time I only had a driver-side windshield wiper. Landon thought that was the coolest thing ever, he then preceded to tell his other two brothers about my cool truck that only had one wiper, that little story made my little truck a smidgen cooler in my eyes. Every winter I tell myself that the blue truck will never make it through, and every winter it made it through.

Recently though we had been looking for a new truck for me, so I'm out one day picking up something for someone because I have a truck and they didn't, and Heather called me saying are you interested in a Chevy Colorado with a King cab, but only has a 5 foot bed? After a couple calls, 3 trips to the bank, and a good nights sleep, Heather and I jumped in old blue for one last road trip. Wouldn't you know it old blue ran like a champ even up to the dealership where we traded her in.

Funny story about the trade in; the dealer guy (Tod) told us not to expect more than $1500 for the trade in, we said OK. Knowing that $1500 would be about 3 times more than she's worth. Well when we got there, he took one look at old blue then had his service tech guy drive it around and then they decided they weren't as impressed with old blue as they thought they might have been, so after a $500 trade in we drove off the lot with my new; Deep Red, Chevy Colorado.

Longest Day Ever

Man-o-Man it's been a while. We've done a lot in the last couple weeks since May, the last time I've posted. Just recently Clinton & I attended the Rapids longest day celebration. Him as a student me as a staff member, we started out the longest day by going to the wave pool in Waterford, and even thought it was raining we still had a blast mostly because we were the only ones there. after the Wave Pool we headed over to Zap Zone where we played some monster games of laser tag. After Zap Zone we headed back to the Warehouse for some Dinner, Music, Dancing and fun. Check out the videos I took with my phone of the kids mosh pitting (?) don't know if that's a word, but it is now.
We had a special band "Double Take" play this monumental gig and they rocked the house.

Another year older!

Well I managed to make it another year without someone walking up to me and saying "I've had enough of you and your mouth" then shooting me straight in the face. Thank God I don't live next to Caswell.
Yes I've had another birthday, I'm really not too fond of birthday's they are to me, uncontrolled attention. I love attention but only when I'm looking for it. I did have a nice birthday though my parents came over an we had a great dinner, which Heather cooked out on the grill, steaks and hamburgers. Normally when my parents come over they usually overstay their welcome 10 minutes in, but this time my dad was under control.
I think my favorite thing about my birthdays now are that my kids really enjoy trying to do something special for me, when I was a kid i really didn't care about other people, and their special days. I think Heather & I have done a pretty good job teaching our kids to be selfless. Now I got a lot of nice things for my birthday; Heather bought me a new phone one with a touch screen, my parents bought me an external 1tb hard drive, then I got some of the normal socks, underwear, and a beach towel (?), but my daughter (with Heathers help) bought me some sunglasses, which were cool but the best thing was that all day she kept telling happy birthday then kissing me on the arm.
Luke bought me a little nerf football, which is really cool gift because Luke is just like me and always has to be playing ball of some sort, we have this old nerf football that we have played so much it is literally falling apart. Clint got me a funny card which on the inside he wrote "Dad saturday I'll take you to see wolverine at the movies". He came up to me in private and said "dad can we go early on Saturday so it's not so expensive?" I think he's more excited than I am.

All in all it was a great birthday.

So the weather is finally looking like you'd want it to look, unless you love snow. . . then you're out of luck. It's funny I really look forward to mowing the lawn around this time of the year, now by July 1st I'll hate it again, but for now it's alright. It's nice to be outside either playing basketball with the kids, sitting in the backyard talking to Heather, playing football with Luke, or eating lunch outside on the picnic table.
I just love being outside even if I have to watch my neighbors play horseshoes til all hours of the night.

My wife and I have officially become parents of a teenager today at 2 pm. I know it’s hard to believe, but yes Clinton turns 13 today.

Every once in a while we have our battles of immaturity like most kids do, but for the most part we have watched Clint grow from a forgetful, messy, sometimes inconsiderate kid, to a very responsible, organized, extremely on-time, still sometimes a little immature (which is normal) young adult.

As a guy you get few friends in life. I know you may think that's bull, but it's basically true. Most men have friends that they play golf with, softball with, work with, are neighbors with, all that is great but if you took away the golf, softball, work, neighbors would you still be friends with those men.

Maybe four years ago I was one of those men, I had guys I played Basketball with, guys I worked with, and a few other men in my life.

The story starts with a church "the River", that (of course my wife found) we started attending this church, which led to us attending a life group which led to me finding a group of guys that, ready for it here comes the whole point of this blog: No matter where we're going or what we are doing I can't wait to hang out with these guys, I'm like a little girl in a hello kitty store. whether it be serving in the community, going to church on Sundays, having life group together, going on vacation together, going to a movie, or going white water rafting together. I can't wait to laugh, joke, fart, burp, be completely and utterly inappropriate together, but at the same time love and worship God at the top of our lungs, and with all our hearts.
Now I know this isn't the normal blog for me I'm usually gross and disgusting, but some of these guys and I got together this week and talked about our upcoming white water rafting trip this September came up and we all got goose bumps just thinking about it. Yes white water rafting is a total blast and worth every single penny it costs to go, but that wasn't what we were really excited about it was taking a guys vacation (a mancation if you will) together that's what is fun. Oh and what's great is that we keep adding more and more guys to the circle so that it is getting huge. There are so many guys that I don't have pictures of that are on my list, so if you read this and think why aren't I on the list, well its because you never get in the picture.

Oh and for all you guys that may read this and think this is completely gay, that's fine it just means you still have those friends we talked about at the beginning; guys you work with, golf with, or fish with. That's cool, but you'll know what I'm talking about when you meet those true friends that are out there waiting for you.

Sometimes I wonder what Jesus is thinking while he's looking down on us? Is he watching me and laughing like most people that watch me? Does he think to himself I'm keeping this fruit alive forever because I don't want him up here. Or does he say "Jesus Christ what the hell was I thinking when I created that? I've even thought Jesus might say "I can't even send this guy to Hell, even Satan doesn't deserve that punishment". Or another thought would be Jesus thinkin "I knew I shouldn't have created him while on those pain pills".

Either way its apparent Jesus has a pretty good sense of humor!

Dinners Ready

After a long sleepless weekend; I'll tell you later. We had some great company on both Monday & Tuesday. First the Whitted came bearing a awesome healthy spaghetti dinner. We sat around talked and laughed until they had to leave. Which the kids especially Arron didn't approve of. We love being with the Whitted's they are a fun, happy, silly, family that the Caddell Family couldn't live without.

On Tuesday we had the Campbells (well most of them, Kevin was out of town) but Kathleen and the kids came over for another fun night. The boys and i went outside and played some basketball, which Brandon won. That won't happen again. then after dinner
"Ham Steak". . . yeah whatever that is, all I know is that it will give the farts bad enough to knock out a hillbilly. After dinner we broke out the rock band. Brandon & Noah were killer guitarist's while Kathleen having never Picked up a rock band drum stick rocked out.

Last weekend I went to Spring Hill with 9 middle school kids from church. We were only there for a weekend, but for three days we played, worshiped, and laughed at the top of our lungs. Getting to know some of these kids better was definatly the highlight of the weekend.

Here are the Girls that went on the Trip: (left) Angele (Wife of the Student Ministry Pastor), Brielle, Madeline, Jessie (Birthday Girl), & Lindsey (Sassy Blond).

As we were pulling out of the driveway headed for Spring Hill, I for some reason blurted out "TALLY FORTH" this became the boys slogan for the weekend. Everywhere we would go we would yell this. In this picture I was trying to get the boys out of the cabin (since it smelled like an Orc's locker room) unfortunately un-beknownst to me the girls where waiting outside the cabin door each with their own can of silly string.

During the "Sessions" kinda like church service, but for kids. At the beginning they would pump the loudest rap music to get the kids pumped up. As you can see the music worked great along with me trying to get the kids pumped up. George was with me as together we danced like idiots while 900 kids sat there watching us. . . . dance like idiots.

This is Jessie it was awesome to get to know her better this weekend. I kept telling her that she reminded me of what Heather would have been like as a kid. This little girl didn't take anything from anybody, and on the broomball court she was a monster. Taking down boys that were twice MY size, which isn't very big. Even jessie is as tall as me, but still this seemed like a huge accomplishment. We couldn't have taken 2nd place in broomball if we hadn't had her there. Also she had a Birthday on Saturday and she took the embarrasment like a champ as we made her stand on a chair in front of the whole camp so we could sing "Happy Birthday" to her.

For some reason energy drinks (Monsters) were the big crave on the trip. Brandon the one in the yellow sweatshirt bunked in my room, and on Friday he drank maybe 3 Monster drinks. Needless to say he was up untill 4:30am until he then convinced 2 of the other boys to get up and get ready for the day. Which lasted all of 1 hour before the other 2 boys were back in bed with their clothes on.

This is the infamous "Broomball" HUGE at Spring Hill, us teamed with another church managed to defeat un-imaginable odds to go all the way to the finals. We took 2nd place. George, Angele & I yelled at the top of our lungs cheering on and making fun of the other team. (Very Christian like) We would yell crazy things like: "Stab them in the toes", "Go for the long Bomb", "Illegal pitch", "Kick them while their down". Of course I got yelled at by the refs for being inappropriate, of course that suits.

Fallout

It's been almost a month since I've blogged, so here's an attempt at making a boring month blog worthy.
Me being a computer hacker can sometimes get me in trouble so I try not to do anything that's not on the up and up when I'm home. So for the last 3 weeks I've been downloading a game that I've been wanting to play on my PC, but only downloading it while I've been out and close to a wireless source. So finally on Wednesday all 5 gig's finished.

So now I have "Fallout 3" on my PC. It's really cool, it's a game where you start out in a fall out shelter, where you grow up to be about 20 years old then everything falls apart your dad leaves the shelter on the same day as some people show up dead. With the whole shelter blaming your dad and you (for some reason) you end up leaving the shelter to find you dad. Once outside the shelter your life gets hard; there's mutated animals and mutated people running around. Along with bandits, raiders, radiation poisons, and other pitfalls I haven't run into yet. But its a fun game, with the object being to find your dad and find out the real story.

So I know it's not much but this is one of the projects I've been working on the last few weeks. And yes I got a $50 dollar game for free, I know it took me 3 weeks to get, but in today's economy It's worth it.

Livin on a Prayer

Monday (Presidents Day) It's still winter outside so we're still inside. We got a roaring fire going, and you guessed it we broke out the Rock Band. Luke only needs about $1,000 more dollars to get that "Motel Guitar" he's been saving for months to get that thing. I was able to save up and buy the skull guitar, cuz you know dad has to be cool. But luke he's the family clown so he's going for that light-up-motel sign. Oh and his character also has lime, green dreadloks so yep that'll go well with the guitar.

Last week Syd's class celebrated their 100 days in class school day. So I thought I'd throw this picture up since most people don't get to see her when she's being a clown.

The Apple doesn't fall far from the tree. MY BOY, Luke has started Basketball this year on an organized team for the first time in his life. He has been waiting in his brothers shadows for 3 years for his turn to shine. Now like normal it took him a few games to figure out the pressures, rules, challenges, and noise of a game situation.
Last week the chips fell into place. We are down to 8 guys this year due broken bones, and other problems, and we lost one more for this game. So 7 guys to play 5 quarters (I know it's weird), Luke has been thrown into a pivotal role on the team, point guard. A role he was meant to play, but not quite read to play yet. But when his team called for someone to step up, everyone looked to Luke. and my boy took the ball and put the team on his back and said follow me.
Luke had to guard the other point guard whom was about 5' 1" to Luke's 4' 3" frame. Luke never backed down he dove for loose balls, he skied for at least 5 to 6 steals. on the offensive end he pumped in 5 points, (which is alot for a game that ends with an average score of 13 - 17) he also dished out at least 2 assists that I can remember.
Now just to keep the record clear we lost this game in the score books, but for our team this was a huge win. we abandoned our old ways of playing like 8 guys on a basketball court and started a new philosophy of playing as a team.

As a coach I've been struggling with trying to get this through their thick heads, but its starting to creep its way int there. All the sudden they were cheering for a teammate, helping their teammates off the ground when they fell, switching on defense, and generally playing heads up basketball, which is normally reserved for those teams that have been playing as a team for many years.
In the 3rd quarter we turned up the heat and started putting all of the above into play, the score was 18 - 0 them, we came out on a mission from God, we locked them down, dove on every ball, ripped every rebound, and switched on every pick. by the end of the 4th quarter the score was 18 - 11 them, now like I said we didn't win this game but to shut down a team for 2 whole quarters (a team that previously beat us 35 - 4, a couple weeks ago). All the sudden you could see in my teams eyes that they thought they could exist in this league.

Basketball is fun again, I love this game.

To be honest with you I'm glad its Monday. this past week and even weekend hasn't been one I want to remember. Ever have one of those rough patches that just no matter how hard you try can't get past? Well this last week was one of those.

Heather and I were at each others throat, for reasons that were silly compared to most reasons to want to throw everything in the house at each other for.
Luke's basketball team, that I coach is falling apart because other parents are sticking their nose's where it doesn't belong and a player on my team had to suffer for it.
Saturday we had another basketball game in which we got our butts handed to us after a 32 - 0 loss, during which I was still boiling over losing a member of my team to this silly organization.
Sunday was month end at work which meant work up the waaazoo for me to do. And Sunday is already my busiest day of the week, thank you.
then to top it all off I really wanted to see Kurt Warner & the Cards win it all.

So was my week really all that bad NO, but I'm glad to be moving on. Hope this weeks better.

Be prepared to laugh at yourself people, nothing is that important or serious that you can't laugh about it. It's the best medicine remember; so Grandma slipping on the ice, your boss spilling his coffee in his crotch, even you going all day with your pants unzipped. Especially laughing at yourself makes you feel 100% better. I'm the most retarded person I know, so I give myself, and many others, many reasons to laugh at me all day long.

My Sister-in-law put this on her facebook. After reading it I thought it was really cool, of course after I put down my information I'll probably think different.

1. I was adopted to a family which had another son 6 years later.
2. I work the midnight shift which I've been doing for the last 6 years.
3. I've always thought I could've played in the NBA with the right connections (I WAS that good).
4. I was an absolute nerd until the 11th grade (at least in my mind, according to others I'm still a nerd).
5. I met my wife at Pensacola Christian College I only stayed for 1 year, but I got her so . . .
6. I've had lots of friends growing up, but Heather is by far my best friend ever.
7. I have a stight case of OCD things have to be lined up just right, I'm organized in my own way.
8. I have arachnophobia, even thought I'm also fascinated with Spiders (I even have one tattooed on me)
9. I hate when people take themselves too seriously.
10. My favorite color is red
11. I love coaching Basketball, Actually I think I love being with kids more.
12. I'm a video game junkie, but I keep it in perspective with my time.

Ok so it's maybe -12 outside (thanks God, you practical joker you). We love this new feature that the schools implemented; if schools not in session they call you on the phone instead of you checking it out on the TV and having get out of your snuggy warm bed.
So we thought hay we all have a day off lets go to the movies and see "Paul Blart - Mall Cop". "YEAH" everyone screamed, then we saw that it was only -12 out, so forget it.

Lets make a fire, put on 2 more layers of clothes, watch Eagle Eye, then play Rock Band. "YAY" everyone yelled.
So I'm sitting here watching Luke play Lego Batman, Clint's sitting on the couch bossing him where to go, and commentating on every move he makes; that's always a pleasure to listen to. Sydney is getting dressing in everything she owns from her summer bin, and Heather has resorted to setting herself on fire to keep warm. I love my life.

It’s funny how things in life work, Words for one example are a funny weapon. I’ve seen, heard and even been involved in instances where a kind word, a encouraging word, or a loving word has brightened someone else’s day, even gone so far as turning someone else’s lives around. Usually when these words are said they are just said out of normal circumstances. By this I mean the person saying it had no idea the magnitude of what they said, it could have been a simple; hello! How are you? That end up telling someone else “you’re important and I want to know how you’re doing”. What makes these words so powerful is that 99 percent of the time words are just words and usually fall on deaf ears, or don’t make a huge impact or even a small impact in life.
On the other side of this coin sometimes we say things in the form of a joke, sarcasm, or just stating our feelings that can rip a gaping hole in someone or something of value to someone else. Now usually the teller is just saying something that is of no value to them but has powerful significance to the listener. I guess what I’m really saying here is how delicate the way we live our lives can affect or be perceived by someone else. In the future I’m gonna try and be careful or cautious and how I present myself, especially to those who may not know the type of person I am. Which if you know anything about me; I am a one of a kind person.

Working midnights is great; there's no traffic to help wear down some of the snow, The salt trucks aren't out yet (they wait until it's closer to morning), all this and the fact that I'm usually running late so I don't take the time to properly clear off all the ice & snow from my truck. So I'm driving to work looking through a small CD sized hole in the windshield where the defrost has started to kick in. On top of all this my trucks heater is on it's way so the cab starts to heat up just as I'm getting there, so by the time I get there I can see perfectly.

I tell you; all you people in the South don't know what you're missing it's like a fun game, if you make it to work without dying or sliding off the roadway into oblivion then you win. Nice

It's been awhile since I've Blogged so I thought I should make an effort to write something down. As I sat here thinking what could I possible write down I started thinking about last few days I've had. On Monday while at work at about 4 in the morning, I got a call from a friend that I haven't talked to in maybe a year and a half. We started out just catching up a little. Then the conversation turned to beliefs in Christ. He was having a hard time with the thought of religion and what it means. Now as most people know I am not the leading expert to talk to about this subject. After talking for about an hour about this we came to the conclusion that whatever name you give your religion or beliefs (if you have a problem with the religion word). If you believe in the teaching and the way Christ lived his life and you can model your life in that same fashion then you'll probably be alright.
Normally this friend of mine has been one of the most influential people in my life always pushing me to strive for better. So it was nice to finally help him or at least give him some advice to help him in his struggles.
After talking for over 3 hours (yes I was still at work during all this; I am truly a dedicated employee) about following Christ and Relationship hardships I hope I was able to give him some good advice. It was nice to maybe (big maybe) help him out after all those time in my life when he's helped me out.

So last night we rolled into the driveway about 8 pm, proceeded to unload the van and try to sweep out the Doritos crumbs with our hands. After we all got in and settled it was time to shower and wash away that inch layer of grime from traveling. After all that was said and done it was 10, which left me an hour and a half to try and catch a nap before leaving for work.

Needless to say I was a zombie at work last night. Some guy from Dearborn called wanting his 911 reset, I told him to give me a couple minutes and I would have it reset, then I hung up the phone and walked over to an empty table laid down and went to sleep. I'm such a hard worker. I remember trying to type some command to start a backup last night and I could not for the life of me get it to work, looking back I have no idea what it was that I was trying to do, the night was a fuzzy mess.

Alright It's the third day of our vacation, and we have spent the whole day getting ready to take pictures on the beach. We've even gone so far as to look up others people pictures that they've taken on the beach, "original yeah I know". Anyway I think We've spent more time getting ready for these pictures then we have getting ready for the wedding that we originally came here for. Now everyone is yelling "are we ready" all at the same time, and nobody is answering because they are all still trying to get ready.

Ok well it’s been a couple days since I've blogged, It's Sunday night now so my weekends past, and the fact that I haven't blogged means that it must have been a busy weekend which is good.

Thursday: well I can't remember what the hell i did during the day. Oh yeah I replaced the locks on the doors at home since a small child could break into our house with a toothbrush. thursday evening I went to see ROCKNROLLA with Luke, Max, & Jordan. After the movie we went to BWW to have $3 beers, and met Jerry & Jason there.

Friday: Heather & I went out for a good day of shopping. We found a coat for Sydney and shirts for the boys for the wedding. Then went out a late breakfast at Panera, then went to see the new James Bond film; The Quantum of Solace. Friday night Clint & I went to the High school youth group get together at the river house for a night of Capture the Flag in the woods. That was fun crawling around in the woods trying to sneak up on everybody.

Saturday: Heather went back to the river house for some painting and clean up after some renovation that they did. I stayed home with the kids and played a little 360 and did some clean up around the house here.

So all in all it was a pretty eventful weekend. Getting a lot don't and also doing a lot.

So a couple weeks ago our dryer finally bit the dust. After a little bit of research Heather orders a new one, then she tells me we won't get it til 2 weeks from then, WHAT!. Alright well for the last few days the whole family is down to the crappy socks and underwear that we hate wearing (you know how you have those pairs of socks or undies that just don't fit the same as the others?) Luke I don't think has even been wearing underwear for the last three days. talk about literal free ballin.
Then to make matters worse my truck starts making this grinding noise when it stops so I'm like "hey the brake are going" so what do I do? take it over to "Complete Auto" in Waterford (best mechanic around if you're looking) drop it off, have Heather pick me up we go home and low and behold who do you think called? You guessed it; the people to let me know the dryers in and we can come pick it up anytime. Is it just me or does life work like this for everybody else?

So I borrow a friends truck go pick it up and after three more trips to the hardware store, Luke is finally sporting some tightie whities to school today.

On Friday Syd was all excited that her school was having a Halloween costume party, and she wanted to go. Well she’s known that she wanted to be a Princess for Halloween since February, but Luke said for the longest time that he didn’t want to dress up this year. We couldn’t figure out why, but Luke being the man of few words didn’t say. Heather & I probably gave him a thousand different ideas to be, but he didn’t like any of them.
So needless to say he said he didn’t want to go to this Halloween bash. So we quit asking, but of course maybe ten minutes before time to leave Luke decided that he did want to go, so again we gave him another thousand options as thing he could dress up as. He decided he wanted to be a nerd. So we threw together a costume as fast as we could. A pair of old glasses, an ugly tie, some pens in a pocket, and some hair gel.

Put all this together and what do you get? Second place in the costume contest that’s what you get.

Right; so remember all this wood I got from the river house? If you were at River-Fest Sunday Oct. 12th then you probably took the hayride and saw that there was plenty of wood to be found out there in the woods. anyway back to the splitting, all this turned into this check it out below.

I think I should be set for winter don't you. And yes I did chop it all with the axe, not a wood splitter like all you girlie men.

HEROSCAPE

Saturday it was time to hang with the kiddos. So we have this game “HEROSCAPE” which is like the biggest, longest, coolest, most pieces, longest to set up, longest to play, most detailed game ever. Here are a couple pictures from our game on Saturday. As you can see it is very detailed and intense. For some reason Dad is always the first one out, meaning that all my guys die. On this particular game Sydney actually won, with a little help from her brother Luke. Together they teamed up on Clint who usually throws a fit if you kill one of his characters.
Just to give you an idea I started building the terrain at about 11 am and we finished playing after Clint forfeited around 2 pm, Clint thinks that if he forfeits before his last character dies it’s not actually losing.

Man it was great to have a weekend, but it sure was busy. Friday Heather had a full day with Sydney's class as they went to Spicer's for a field trip.

So I thought that I’d make good use of my day and get some work done. This completely contradicts my normal day off routine. Normally I would sit down in front of the Xbox or put on a movie and completely waste my day and love doing it. But not today my friend; I had a bunch of errands to run, so I hit the bank, then over to True Value, to pick up my lawn mower blade that I had sharpened. Then I ran to the church property to cut up some old trees that we had chopped down during our clean-up of the property for the River-fest. After chopping it all into manageable pieces that will fit in my fireplace, I loaded it all in my truck and headed back to home to split it all.

After all this I showered and got all spiffiyed up to go out for a night on the town with the Ouellettes, then we hit O’Callaghan’s in Milford for a awesome dinner then onto 59 west for drinks, some pool, and air hockey. At 59 West we had the privilege of meeting Cliff, a drunk that wandered around the bar trying to talk to anybody and everybody that would listen. Cliff wouldn’t have been so bad if he didn’t also walk over near you then rip one, which seemed to make him a little more offensive.

Well like a dork I agreed to work the entire weekend, so here I am sitting here, on Friday which is my normal day off, at work waiting for 8:30 to roll around so I can go home and crawl into bed. Last night I even had the opportunity to catch a good cat nap here at work, but did I take advantage of that opportunity? No not me I was too busy playing a game I installed on my laptop.

I am proud of myself though this game I installed was a bootleg which I downloaded and in order to play it you have to have the disc, but I was able to mount the CD’s on a virtual drive and bypass the actual Disc drives, then fake the serial numbers, and open sesame we got Diablo II and the expansion pack.

I guess I picked a good time to install this thing though I agreed to work Friday, Saturday (normal days off), then I work Sunday, then stay and work the day shift also on Sunday, then work Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday in a different department. I’m working so much overtime I think I could have actually afforded to go out and buy Diablo II. But what the hell that would have been too easy.

I was talking to this guy I work with he delivers reports, that we print during the night, within the county complex. Anyway we were talking about our kid’s schoolwork and how the school systems are teaching thing to the kids that they will never have to know. For example my son is doing a report on Sweden. The typical stuff: flag, currency, major import & export, language, and so on. Anyway Clinton asked me a question about something and I said well I used to know that stuff but not anymore. Clinton asked why I didn’t know it anymore. I said well I don’t need to know it now. “Why” he asked I said “because of the internet”. I told him now that we have access to the internet at any given time whether on our PC, Laptop, Phone, Watch, Belt buckle, I-pod, cars, pretty soon we will be born with access to the internet built into our retinas, anyway with access to all this information why bother learning all this stuff. Especially stuff like math, English, biology, history it’s all right there in any format you want looking at things from any angle you want.

Now, I’m not saying they shouldn’t go to school or anything, but I think true education isn’t what you learn in books, but rather how you interact with the people around you in life. Believe me some of these computer geeks that I work with here probably have a resume a mile long accomplishing anything from rocket science to a frontal lobotomy, but what good does it do you if you can’t even speak to somebody for more than 30 seconds. Yeah here’s another idea try bathing or lifting anything heavier than an Xbox controller (yeah it’s called a gym, that thing you excused your way of out through high-school). Sorry got off on a rant there.

Alright well I guess I’m done making fun of a school system that will obsolete in the matter of 10 years, due to the birth of human computers. Hope your kids have a good day at school, since you probably couldn’t help them with their homework last night anyway.

Jason Bentley hit a homerun

Well last Sunday was our last Church league softball game. We had a good time even though we got horribly mercied (don’t know if that’s a word) in our first game. In the second game we ended up playing our other Church team, River White, they have some heavy hitters, but we held our own against them. We had help from our awesome pitcher Craig Bindus who hit two in the park homers, how many people can say that? Jason Bentley hit a homer that just barely made it over the fence. We lost by three, but fun was had by all and that is how we roll.

After the game both teams went to our usual spot “Hartland Pizza”. We had pizza, beer, and fellowship aplenty along with great stories, and lots of laughs.

Midway through our meal Rodney Goble, our sports ministry leader, asked if there was anything we could change about the way the softball league was run? He wanted to make sure that people were getting involved not only with softball but in the church as well, making friendships, basically the 3 L’s (loving others, Living openly, and locking arms with others). Everything kind of quieted down then Jason Bentley; said that if it wasn’t for the softball team he would still be feeling left out from others at the church. Jason is a guy that has really stepped up the last few months at our church, with being in drama’s, holding bible studies at his house, and just being available to do things with the other men in the church. The reason Jason felt left out was that fact that he’s single in a church of mostly families and for a little while it troubled him and probably still does some. But Jason said that through being on the softball team he has made some true friendships, met many people that the Lord may not have placed in his path otherwise, and basically feels that this is where the Lord wants him to be; around other Christian people. You know what? We all felt that way, sometimes just sitting back and relaxing with friends is what Jesus had in mind. So whether its softball, football, golfing, hiking, camping, shopping, or just going to a barbeque as long as you’re with the right friends that’s what it’s all about.

So yeah I know my story was long and wasn’t very funny, if you were really listening you heard that Jason Bentley hit a homerun!

Friday Heather got up and got the kids off to school. Then came and woke me up; saying she wanted to go out and do something. So we threw some clothes on went to Panera bread for some coffee and a bagel, then ran over to Brighton cinema to see the movie “Pineapple Express” we watched the 10:40 am showing so we were the only ones in the theater, that was fun cause we could laugh as loud as we wanted. This helped in this case, because this movie was hilarious. It’s got a little more blood and gore than we thought but the laughs outweighed the gore. My favorite part was the cop car chase with the slushy on the windshield. During that part I’m glad there was nobody in the theater to see us laugh so hard.

It was a really good day just to be able to be together, talking, laughing, and having a good time. Now that the kids are back in school I hope there will be more days like this one.

Get your own coffee

Its funny working Midnights has afforded us a few luxuries. One of those luxuries is a small coffee pot in our room, but this coffee pot had to be fought for tooth and nail. One of the other supervisors threw a bitch-fit about us having our own coffee while the other departments had their coffee machine taken away. She would come in and tell us that we were not allowed to have it, and that it was un-fair to the other people in the building. In which case I would tell her that if she has a problem with the way I run my shift or the things I have for my shift then she should take it up with my boss. Then my boss would tell her that working the midnight shift was a harder shift and that the coffee pot was a benefit for it. Well her complaints went on for almost 3 months; before by some change of heart she comes walking in our room this morning with a huge can of coffee and asks us if she could use our coffee pot if she donates to the coffee supplies. Giggle, giggle sure “Harvey dent” you can use our coffee machine.

I'm going to Kindergarten

This morning was my baby girls first day at kindergarten, so I left work early and rushed home, before the bus got there. When I pulled in she was dressed and standing outside with her new backpack, shoes, and “I’m in kindergarten now” t-shirt. She had waited all summer to get to this point, and now it was finally here and she was about to burst with excitement. As I stood there with Sydney & Luke waiting for the bus to come, I realized that I had rushed home to see my baby girl make it onto the bus but to also be there for my other Baby girl (Heather) as this was her last baby to leave the nest.

Luke is in charge of getting Syd where she needs to go. Now, one thing you need to know about Luke is that he hates talking to anybody. Last year he stood there and let another kid beat him up cuz he didn’t want to hurt the other kid, nor did he want to talk to an adult to tell on this kid, so he just stood there and took it for a week or two. But as we watched Syd & Luke get on the bus, Luke stopped in front of the Bus driver who was a guy (even scarier for Luke) and told the guy this was his baby sister and that they would be sitting together. This is the sign of a real man, face your fears to take care of the ones you love.

Last night I went over to Bruce Wolfe’s, a very good friend of mine, house for a bible study, it turned out to be just him and me. I love spending time with Bruce he is a very spiritually wise person and we always have these very deep talks about our faith and our families.

Well last night we had this talk about our classic cars that we’ve been working on. Now, I know what you’re thinking “I didn’t know you liked cars” we’ll after you see this car you’ll know why I love it so much and want to do my best to keep it running great. First of all the lines on this classic car are beautiful, they flow like perfection, each line intersects with the others like the sunset. (Wow! Yeah I know). The color on this classic car is perfect, just the way I want it. Now, I know some may look at it and find little flaws, but this is just the way I want it to be I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’ve had this car for a while and while some people choose to upgrade their cars for a faster model or one with better performance, not me though I’ve loved this car since I’ve gotten it, and now it just purrs like a kitten. I’m one of those guys that feel the more you put into something the more you’ll get out of it.

Now, don’t get me wrong I haven’t always been this way, and there have been times when I didn’t take very good care of my classic car. Sometimes I left it out in bad weather, or didn’t give it the proper attention it deserved to make it run to its fullest potential. There have even been times when I thought I might lose my classic car due to my carelessness.

I’m a little bit older now and realize that taking care of a classic car means really loving it, knowing every detail of it inside and out. Coming home from work or wherever and getting out in the garage to spend time getting it just right. Not just buying the best parts for it, but taking the parts you have and working on them until they are perfect.

I realize that not everybody feels the way I do about classic cars but everybody has something that they love to do in their spare time, whether it’s classic cars, motorcycles, boats, guns, lawns, their home, woodworking, computers. . . etc. Whatever you choose to do in your spare time really put the work and love into it, put the sweat and hard times into making it be the best it can possible be. Cuz we’re men right? And we don’t want something that comes easy, we want something that we can conquer, we want to fight for it, we want it to be hard so we know that just not anybody could do it. We want to look back on what we did and flex our muscles a little bit knowing that we succeeded.

So thanks Bruce for reminding me to come home and pay attention to my classic car.

Sitting at work last night I decided to watch this movie. Yeah I know it just came out in the theaters last Friday, but this is how I roll.

Death Race

This movie is another Jason Statham driving movie - imagine that - now if you want to watch; it's here but make it quick cuz I'm sure the authorities will take if off faster than a cop to a doughnut shop.

I think this movie is rated R for language and violence. But it’s not that bad; no worse than Die Hard and even has less language. Basically it’s the “Transporter” movies on steroids. I’m sure my boys will watch it when mom’s not home. What boy wouldn’t want to watch cars driving around with 50 caliber guns mounted to the front? Shoot even I would want to watch that. Now don’t get me wrong this movie won’t win any Oscars or even top 100 in movie history. It’s very un-realistic base it on “Shoot em up” starring Clive Owen. That’s a good movie also if you love a gun toting Paul Giamatti and Clive Owen and a bunch of lactating hookers. Yes this is a winning combination in my book.

Friday we celebrated Luke's birthday and as I watched him ride away on his new bike I realized that my kids are getting old. Luke will be in 3^rd grade this year, Clint in 7^th, and Syd will be starting Kindergarten all day every day this year.

If you’ve read Heathers blog, and anybody who’s anybody reads Heathers blog, she had a picture of the kids with new school haircuts. Well those haircuts really make them look older now. This summer went by pretty fast but it seemed like Luke & Syd seemed to grow right before your eyes. They are both more confident in themselves; they both want to dress themselves, and when we go shopping they are more interested in buying clothes than toys now.

A couple days ago I hurt my back and I think that’s triggered my realization to the fact that my kids don’t look at me like I’m superman anymore. Also the boys and I have these knock-down-drag-out basketball battles in the back yard, and even though I’m told I have to shoot left handed it used to be no problem for me to beat them if I really wanted to. Now just to paint a pitcure we play on this cement slab that’s probably on 15 ft wide by 18 ft long, small yeah I know, but Clint is so fast I can’t keep him in front me and it’s getting to the point that Clint wins most of the games. It’s even getting to where I’m hoping to at least beat Luke most of the time.

I’m losing my little boys that used to look to me for everything, they used to say “dad you always have good ideas for things to do” now I hear “dad we’re in the middle of something we’ll play with you later”. I told Sydney that she couldn’t grow up because she has to be my baby to which she replied “dad I drink coffee with whip cream on top”, great she’s already hittin the coffee and going on shopping binges. Even on TV it’s no longer SpongeBob or Scooby Doo it’s; Drake & Josh, I Carly, and Hannah Montana.

Ok true story; yesterday I was on the treadmill trying to get in 4 miles. So I set up my laptop so as to watch a movie while running. I was doing well at about a little over 3 miles when all of the sudden my treadmill comes to a complete stop for no reason at all. So I'm looking at it trying to move the tread with my feet to get it going again, that doesn't work so I take a look into the wire housing of the machine - a long time ago I had taken the cover off the wire housing and it ran great for a couple years until now. So I’m sitting on the tread looking into the wire housing when a drip of sweat hits the motherboard, then all the sudden it starts and I stand up really quick and step onto the sides of the running surface. It starts increasing speed until it hits over 15 mph, I can feel the wind coming from the tread. So I turn it off and that solves the problem – NO it keeps going even in the off stage so I pull the power cord, and it stops. Now here is where people would think “there must have been a demon controlling it and trying to do harm to me”, but I looked at it as God wanted me to quit running so I went upstairs made a sandwich, and played some Tiger Woods golf on the wii. True story

Here is another movie I just watched while running, yeah I know these are kids movies, but I grow up loving Comics so these movies/films kinda call out to me. I understand they may not be your cup of tea though, so I'll put more current films up as I find them. I'm only going to put up movies/films/episodes that are decent quality though.

Ok so I think I might start to put movies here for your enjoyment. I'm always telling people how they can watch movies online for free, but people forget the instructions I give so I'll just do it for you, then all you have to do is sit back and watch. I know this movie has been out for a little while but the longer they have been out of the theater the better quality they are.

Thursday finally my weekend it’s been long overdue and about time I get a full weekend I think it’s been like 3 in a row that I only got one day weekends. So I get home today and Heather takes Clinton up to the Church youth house for a “water park day” with the youth group. Yeah I know what you’re thinking I thought Clint was on shutdown. So with Clint gone, Syd, Luke, Heather & I are off to the park. We decided to get out of the house for a little while and go to Milford Park; let the kids run around like crazy and we could talk a little. After a little bit of running around and playing catch we decide to run up the bell (taco bell) and grab some chalupas and come back to the park for a nice outdoor lunch.

Wednesday night in my Work Softball League, we played our semi-finals game, and we played like a going-out-of-business crap salesman selling everything at 75% off; everything must go. I’m really not sure where I was going with that it just kinda came to me, but to put it simply we stunk. We ended up losing 4 to 3, which isn’t bad, considering we played so bad. I guess it helped them that they showed up with a completely different team than they did earlier in the season. Plus they went and recruited a short stop that looked like stretch Armstrong on steroids. This guy was all over the place diving, leaping, rolling, and jumping to catch anything that came in his direction. While our team; anything that came in our direction we would dive, leap, roll, and jump to save our beer , then try to catch what was left with our beer in one hand and a cigarette hanging from our lips. But we had fun and that was all that mattered. In one breath I’m glad it’s over, but in the next I can’t wait until next year we had such a fun team.

Superbowl bound

So last week while Heather was at the leadership conference, I got an opportunity to go to the Lions pre-season opener with Steve James, Marc Whitted, and Jason bentley. By all means I can't pass that up. it was a great time had by all and I think that the Lions even played that night, we weren't watching, I think they may have even won. Oh and to add to that little nightmare scenario of the three of us being together (Marc, Steve, & myself) we found out that Jerry Fraser also has season tickets only four rows up from Steve's, and Jerry brought Kevin Hayes. So put the six of us all together at a Lions game and believe me the people in our section were watching what idiotic things we were going to do next instead of watching the game. The beers at the game were an exorbitant amount of money so we can't blame it on being drunk. everyone had fun; and Jerry didn't get thrown out, so hopefully we can all do it again.
